The key is to look beyond the hourly rate. Two studios charging £75 an hour can offer very different recording experiences.

How Much Does a Podcast Studio Cost in London?

We checked publicly advertised rates from a range of London studios in September 2026. Based on those listings, pricing falls into four broad bands.

• Self-service and audio-only rooms: roughly £40 to £84 an hour. You get a treated room and microphones, and usually operate the session yourself. Examples include a £40 self-service rate in Soho and audio packages from £65 to £84 an hour elsewhere.
• Affordable managed studios: roughly £70 to £100 an hour. A technician or engineer is on hand, and video is often included. Some of these rates are quoted before VAT.
• Professional multi-camera studios: roughly £100 to £170 an hour. Expect an engineer, two or more cameras, lighting, and faster file delivery.
• Premium and full-production facilities: £200 an hour and up, or half-day blocks. These often include a camera operator, robotic or cinema cameras, and a minimum booking of three to four hours.

These bands come from the studios we checked, not from a complete census of London, and some published rates are “from” prices that apply to the smallest room or the quietest times. We’d treat them as a starting point for your own comparison.

Room Hire, Engineer, Cameras: What a Cheap Studio Rate Actually Covers

A £40 room and a £75 managed session are not the same product. Before you compare prices, we suggest working out which of these elements are in the rate and which are extras.

• Room only or engineer: Self-service means nobody is monitoring your levels. Some studios include an engineer for the whole session, some only for setup, and some charge £20 to £30 an hour extra.
• Microphones: Check how many are included. A two-host show with a guest needs three.
• Cameras: Audio-only rates are common at the cheap end. Video can be one camera, two cameras, or a third camera as a paid add-on.
• Lighting and monitoring: Good lighting is what makes a video podcast look professional, and live monitoring catches problems before they ruin a take.
•  File delivery: Ask when you’ll receive raw files, in what format, and whether separate audio tracks are included.
• Setup time: Some studios count setup and pack-down inside your paid hour.
• Editing: Almost always separate. Editing is where a cheap recording session can turn into a large total bill.
• VAT: Several studios quote prices before VAT, which adds 20% to what you pay.
• Minimum booking: Some rates require two, three, or four hours.

This is why a low room rate can end up costing more than a higher all-in rate. If you need to add an engineer, a second camera, and an extra microphone, the gap closes quickly. Self-Service vs Studio With an Engineer

We think self-service recording suits experienced creators. If you know how to set gain levels, frame a shot, and check your files before you leave, a room-only booking can be the cheapest way to record in London. Audio-only podcasters with their own workflow often get excellent results this way.

The trade-off is that every technical problem is yours to solve. A clipping microphone, a camera that stopped recording halfway through, or a guest sitting out of frame may not be noticed until you’re editing at home.

An engineer-supported session costs more per hour but moves that responsibility to someone else. In our studio, the engineer handles:

• audio levels and live monitoring
• camera framing and recording checks
•  technical setup and pack-down
•  recording management and backups
• troubleshooting during the session

Affordable Podcast Studios in London: Current Examples

The table below lists London studios with publicly advertised prices that we could verify on their own websites in September 2026. We’ve listed them alphabetically, not ranked, because the right choice depends on what you need.

A few patterns stood out to us. The cheapest rates are almost always self-service or audio-only. Rates that include both an engineer and two cameras typically range from £75 to £150 per hour.

Can You Get a Professional Podcast Studio for Under £50/Hour in London?

For self-service audio, yes. Among the studios we checked, self-service rooms start at around £40 an hour. For an engineer-supported video session with two cameras, the standard rates we found are above £50 an hour, which means sub-£50 managed recording usually comes from an introductory offer rather than a standard rate.

That’s what our first-time offer is. Our normal Studio + Engineer rate is £75 an hour. Eligible new customers can book exactly three consecutive hours for £112.50, instead of the usual £225. That works out to £37.50 an hour for that one session. It is a fixed three-hour introductory booking, not an open hourly rate you can use again.

Is the Cheapest Podcast Studio Always the Best Value?

In our view, not always, but sometimes it is. Value depends on what you’d otherwise have to add.

A £40 self-service room is excellent value for a confident audio podcaster with a working routine. The same room can become the more expensive option for a first-time video podcaster who needs to add an engineer, a second camera, and extra microphones, or who loses a recording because nobody was monitoring it. Re-booking a guest costs more than any studio.

We also encourage people to think beyond the recording itself. If each episode will be cut into short clips for Instagram, LinkedIn, or TikTok, check what the studio’s files are like for that job: framing, multiple angles, and clean audio all matter.
